10:03AM - Current and Future Reads.

Since my wife is currently reading the only copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince, I have to wait to read it.

I am using my time wisely by rereading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Between chores and my kids, I can read about 5 to 10 chapters a day. But if I get some extra money, then I want to get my own copy of HP-HBP so I can start reading it.

7:42PM - "Harry Potter" in the News

First of all, I am glad to see a spoiler community about the HP books.

After reading the first five books, "HP-OOP" is best so far. I love the backstory and dark undertones. It is truly a scary book to read.

Anyway tonight on the CBS network news, I saw the first news story about HP 6 (at least on tv). The story was an interview of the guy who does the voices for the HP audio novels. He said another big character dies, but he wouldn't say who.

I guess we will hear more as it gets closer to 7-16.

2:29PM - Updates to the community and userinfo

Due to the forthcoming release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, I have changed the userinfo in this community to state that HBP spoiler discussion is quite welcome here, as is continuing discussion of the finer points of Order of the Phoenix. I may or may not change the community's username before the book is released.

I do ask, due to the fact that some people who may not wish to find spoilers read friendsfriends, to please lj-cut any spoiler discussion of HBP until the book's release. After that date, if anyone runs across spoilers while reading friendsfriends, on their own head be it. (Why, yes, I did get some complaints about this last time, and I think this compromise is fair for this go-round.)

So, please, do continue posting away. And feel free to pimp this community out, if anyone is looking for a safe place on LJ to discuss Harry Potter spoilers.

12:44PM - misconceptions and Malfoy

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier but did the fact that Draco couldn't see the thestrals make anyone else change their view of Malfoy? I used to think he was destined to be a death eater and had been trained in those sorts of things, possibly seen his father kill someone, but when he doesn't see the thestrals it made me think. He's not seen anyone die, he's been shielded from that so far as well as Pansy, Crabbe, Goyle and the other Slytherins that couldn't see them either. Could this be JKR hinting that maybe not all Slytherins are bad? (which I thought anyway, but she's led us to believe otherwise) Or a hint that maybe sixth year will see some Slytherins joining the D.A. and going about that working together/unity the sorting hat said was so important? I'm not saying redeemed!Draco or even friendly!Draco just I'mdoingthistosavemyownass!Draco. No doubt his father's arrest will have a major impact on his decision.

I leant my book out to my aunt (who is reading it at a terribly slow pace) but I need to something for a fic I'm writing. Is there anyone who is willing to type the paragraph or how ever many lines it is and leave it as a comment when Harry comes into to take his O.W.L.s and Draco drops the wine glass. That little scene between them is what I need for this fic. I'll love you forever, please...

Hello. I've been searching for a good HP community and I think I've found one that actually is decent. So I'm very very excited. I would love to chat about OotP or whatever. Here's my copious opinion on the fifth year I posted on my journal a while back.

3:39PM - Things that make you go 'wha?'

Am rereading OOtP and this one leapt out at me:

According to Sirius and Remus, James wasn't a prefect, but in PS/SS Hagrid said that James was Head Boy and Lily was Head Girl. So either

• James was a Head Boy without being a prefect (unlikely)


• Hagrid was exaggerating to build up J&L in Harry's eyes

or


• Harry misunderstood S&R.

When Harry and everyone else goes to the Hog's Head to form the D.A., there's one sentence that makes me go "hmm.."

"The barman sidled toward them out of a back room. He was a grumpy-looking old man with a great deal of long, gray hair, and a beard. He was tall and thin and looked vaguely familiar to Harry."

Now.. why is he vaguely familiar? I know Dumbledore said that he has been keeping closer watch than Harry can imagine on him.. is that Dumbledore in disguise? Or is it something else, like maybe how Tom Marvolo Riddle sounds like a friend Harry had had when he was very little..

10:04AM - Mr. Malfoy in Askaban?

Ok, now that we know that Ms. Umbridge sent the dementors after Harry, does that mean that the dementors are still taking orders from the Ministry?

Was Mr. Malfoy sent to Askaban? I do know that several of the dark lords servants were captured and sent to Askaban, BUT I only made a quick read of the book the first time through and another family member has the book now so I cannot look up who got caught and sent to "prision".

Who will Draco turn to for guidence over the summer?????? There cannot be anyone more cruel then his father, except v.v..Valdemort.
